Yorkiepoo Highlights

Highly-spirited bundles of fur that come with a spunky but loving personality – that’s what a Yorkiepoo is! It’s an adorable designer breed that is a cross between a Yorkshire Terrier and a Miniature or Toy Poodle. They make for amazing companion dogs that get along well with family members and other pets in the household. No matter the size of your home, may it be a house or a flat, a Yorkiepoo will fit right in just right. Packed with tons of energy despite their petite size, they are always down to play with you or a good 20-30 walk or exercise outside. During downtimes or chill days, you’ll find a Yorkiepoo resting either beside you or on top of your lap.

Despite them being generally friendly towards other pets, they might bring out their inner terrier tendencies to play and rumble around with them. Make sure to train them as pups to get used to the presence of kids, cats, and other dogs present at home. Yorkiepoos love to love and cuddle with their humans. They enjoy any kind of activity that involves bonding with their owners. They are incredibly smart and respond well to positive reinforcement during training – making them ideal for those who are first-time pet owners.

Because a Yorkiepoo’s original parents are known to be hypoallergenic breeds, they do not shed as much so if you’re allergic to fur, you don’t have to worry about that with them. They are easy to groom and take care of. If you’re looking for a new pet to take care of, and you’re curious to know more about Yorkiepoos, make sure to read on further below!

Yorkiepoo Puppies History

One of the modern designer breeds that’s fast-growing in popularity, the Yorkiepoo was designed to be toy-sized dog with the best qualities it gets from its parents. It is a fairly young designer breed that’s been in demand due to its hypoallergenic benefits and is easy to take care of. The original breeders also wanted a Yorkiepoo to be free from genetic disorders and a calm temperament.

Yorkiepoo Personality

Lively, sassy, and lovable are the best qualities to describe the Yorkiepoo. This tiny breed comes with a huge personality, tons of curiosity, and overflowing with affection for its owner. They thrive under constant attention from the people around them and enjoy participating in various activities with their owner and the family. Usually described as independent, they are also content to watch the world around them while on your lap or explore the outside to discover every crook and cranny they might find. Yorkiepoos generally preen under constant mental and physical stimulation. Do take note that you should properly establish boundaries, control their behaviour, and reinforce positive training while they’re young. Its temperament is playful, active, and curious – but you have to consider the parents’ personality and temperament that they may inherit.

Yorkiepoo Size

A Yorkiepoo generally stands around 7-15 inches in height and weighs around 5-15 pounds on average. Depending on the dominant genetics, this breed inherits a mix of its parents’ colours and fur type. The common colours that show up on bicolour or tricolour coats are black, white, brown, cream, blue, gray, red, tan, and gold. Yorkiepoos can be recognized with their small faces, adorable brown eyes, and slightly long, tapered or short snouts. Their ears can be long and droopy or short and pointy. Similarly, their tails can be long and fluffy or short and perky. Yorkiepoos are one of the smallest dog breeds in the world.

How to Care Yorkiepoo Puppies: Grooming & Basic Needs

Yorkiepoos are not finicky when it comes to living needs. They’re comfortable as long as their owner is comfortable. No matter how big or small the living space is, they can easily adapt well to it. They make great flat dogs as well, but do keep in mind that they tend to bark a lot if that does not bother you. The barking can be reduced once trained from a young age. Similar to Yorkshire Terriers, they have an innate hunting instinct to go after rodents around the house.

When it comes to grooming this breed, their coat requires daily brushing to prevent tangles and mats. They may shed a little; keep their coat shiny and in shape by regularly brushing it and by bringing them to the salon to have their coats trimmed. However, this breed is not high maintenance when it comes to grooming, depending on the type of fur your pooch inherits, the grooming trips to maintain their coats may vary. Lastly, like other dog breeds, they need to have their ears cleaned, nails trimmed, and teeth brushed. Toy dog breeds are prone to dental problems, so make sure you’re brushing their teeth daily.

Yorkiepoo Common Health Condition / Training / Nutrition

The general lifespan of a Yorkiepoo ranges from 10 to 15 years. They are a generally healthy breed, but can be prone to some diseases, so make sure you are aware of their health needs. Keep a track record of their annual vaccination requirements and make sure to get your pup checked for any possible health concerns. Like with small breeds, they may be prone to joint issues, hip issues, liver concerns, and even weight gain that may lead to them being overweight.

Daily proportionate feeding is a must for your Yorkiepoo. Depending on the size of your breed, the amount of food must correspond to it. You may consult with your vet for nutrition and intake recommendations. Always provide your pooch with fresh water to keep them hydrated.

Your Yorkiepoo is a lively bundle of fur that loves going on walks or playing with you. It’s a great way to keep them active with daily exercise to keep them happy and fit. They are one of the most intelligent breeds as well, which makes them great to train with. They are fast learners that pick up on what their owners want them to do, but may become stubborn or bored if the training is repetitive. Keep the lessons fun and engaging, so teaching them new tricks can be easier.
