Families in Singapore cherish these dogs for their companionship and gentle demeanour, making them a common and beloved sight in many homes.
Originating from Scotland, the Golden Retriever is a medium to large-sized dog breed. Females typically weigh between 55 and 75 pounds, while males are slightly heavier, ranging from 65 to 75 pounds. They have a life expectancy of around 10 to 12 years.

Their coat needs regular grooming to manage shedding, especially during seasonal changes.

It's been 1.5 months since we got our Japanese Spitz puppy and she has been an absolute joy. Much thanks to Yvonne for answering all our questions and being so helpful in sharing information on caring for our little pup. She had a clean bill of health and came home healthy, energetic and quite well adjusted. After purchasing this little one, we still keep in touch with Yvonne and are grateful for the after sales support indeed. :)Posted on Google![]()

Amazing experience with Pretty Pets Kennel!! Special shoutout to Branden who took the effort and patience to explain to us about the cavapoo. Really love at first sight. Initially wanted to have a second thought but with the professional explanation. It left us with only 1 choice. Guess what? We got a new family member now…☺️🎊🎉Posted on Google![]()

I got my family’s dream dog, a Papillion-Japanese spitz mix at Pretty Pet’s Kennel! I’m very grateful to Yvonne who introduced me to the designer mix dog. According to Google, it has better tolerance with Singapore’s humid heat vs Pomsky (or pure Japanese spitz). Pretty Pets Kennel designer mixes can be rare and have high visibility, so it’s important to secure them quickly if you really desire them. I’m lucky Yvonne kept me up to date on the sale this litter. ❤️ After I brought him back, Yvonne checked in daily for about 3 days to make sure the puppy was settling well and I was doing all the right things. I’m lucky that he is about 50% toilet trained from the moment I brought him in. Perhaps it’s also part of Pretty Pets structure that he is partly toilet trained. They also ethically check on some viruses before they release the pup.Posted on Google![]()

We’ve had such a lovely experience with them, from the very first time we met Yvonne to even after Pebbles came home. We actually chanced upon this place quite randomly and very much on a whim. Our boy had very recently left us, and at the time we were simply looking around — not even specifically for another puppy. Yvonne was extremely warm and took the time to get to know us. When she found out that we had previously had a Japanese Spitz, she asked if we would like to have a look at the puppies. I don’t think we need to say much more after that. ❤️ Our puppy girl came home with us the following week. What really impressed us was seeing how well the furkids/babies were cared for. We know that, unfortunately, the conditions in these situations are not always ideal, so it was reassuring to see the care and attention given to the puppies. We were even able to interact with our puppy’s birth parents, which was something really special for us. The aftercare has been just as lovely. Yvonne continues to check in with us and follows up to make sure everything is alright, and she has always been there when we have questions or concerns. We really appreciate that the care didn’t simply stop once our puppy went home. There is probably never a “right” time to welcome another furkid after losing one. We certainly weren’t looking to replace our boy, and we know our hearts weren’t really prepared for another puppy so soon. But we are incredibly grateful for that one simple question that led us to meet our little puppy girl. Thank you, Yvonne, for bringing our little puppy girl into our lives. ❤️🐾Posted on Google![]()

Jared has been extremely helpful and caring from the very beginning when we welcomed our Pomeranian, Kai, into our family. Although I have had dogs before, having a puppy is a new experience for our children, and there were many things for us to learn and adjust to together. Jared really went above and beyond. He even created a group chat to keep in touch with us, follow up on Kai’s daily progress, and make sure we were doing well and taking good care of him. Whenever we had questions or were unsure about something, he was always patient, responsive and ready to guide us. What we appreciate most is that his care didn’t stop after we brought Kai home. You can really feel that he genuinely cares about the puppies and wants them to settle happily into their new families. Thank you, Jared, for all your help, patience and care. You made welcoming Kai into our family such a smooth and reassuring experience. 🩵🐶 Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. The history of the Golden Retriever can be traced back to Scotland in the late 1800s. Developed by Lord Tweedmouth, this breed was initially intended for retrieving game during hunting expeditions. The Golden Retriever’s ancestors include the now-extinct Tweed Water Spaniel and other retriever breeds. They were officially recognised as a distinct breed in the early 20th century. Initially valued for their hunting abilities, Golden Retrievers have since become treasured family companions, known for their loving and vibrant nature.

Golden Retrievers are celebrated for their sweet and calm temperament. They are especially good with families, showing an eagerness to please and a love for being involved in all aspects of family life. These dogs are friendly, get along well with children and other pets, and maintain a playful, affectionate demeanour well into their adult years. Their friendly nature makes them a perfect match for both families and individual owners.
Golden Retrievers are robust and well-proportioned dogs. Males typically stand 23 to 24 inches tall, with females being slightly smaller at about 21.5 to 22.5 inches in height. They reach their full height by age one and attain their full weight by age two. This breed’s sturdy build and energetic spirit make them a lively addition to any household.

Raising a Golden Retriever puppy in Singapore is a rewarding experience that comes with specific care requirements. These puppies are known for their beautiful golden coats, which require regular grooming. Brushing their coats a few times a week is essential to keep them tangle-free and manage shedding. Their grooming routine should also include regular baths, but not too frequently, to maintain the natural oils in their coat.
Golden Retrievers’ ears should be checked and cleaned regularly to prevent infections, given their propensity for ear issues. It’s also important to maintain their oral health with regular teeth brushing. Nail care is crucial too, as overgrown nails can cause discomfort. Overall, a consistent grooming routine will keep your Golden happy and healthy.
Golden Retrievers are generally healthy, but they are prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, heart issues, and certain types of cancer. Regular veterinary check-ups are vital to catch any health problems early. Golden Retrievers are highly trainable, and known for their intelligence and eagerness to please. Training should start early, focusing on basic obedience and socialisation, and can include more advanced training or dog sports as they grow.
When it comes to nutrition, Golden Retrievers thrive on a balanced diet. Feeding them high-quality dog food in appropriate portions is important to prevent obesity. Their diet should be adjusted according to their age, size, and activity level. Regular exercise is essential for their physical and mental well-being, keeping them fit and content.
At Pretty Pets Kennel, our experience with Golden Retrievers has been a journey of love and learning. Each puppy, with its unique character, has taught us about patience, care, and the joy of nurturing. We’ve seen them grow from timid pups into confident, affectionate companions, a transformation that speaks to the breed’s friendly and adaptable nature. Our hands-on experience, filled with countless heartwarming moments, has deepened our understanding and love for these wonderful animals. It’s through these daily interactions that we’ve honed our skills in providing the best care for every Golden Retriever that joins a family.
Our approach to caring for Golden Retriever puppies at Pretty Pets Kennel is marked by diligence and a commitment to excellence. From the very start, we ensure each puppy undergoes thorough health screenings to identify and address any potential genetic issues. We place a strong emphasis on temperament testing and early socialisation, exposing them to various environments to foster their natural sociable traits.
Nutrition is carefully monitored, providing balanced diets tailored to each puppy’s growth needs. This comprehensive care and assessment process embodies our dedication to raising well-rounded, healthy, and happy Golden Retrievers, ready to become loving members of their new homes.
